The quantitative aptitude section is perhaps one area which represents the biggest challenge for students appearing for the CAT. If you need proof of this, all you need to do is consider the following facts about the CAT 2008 paper:

Fact #1 : With 0 marks (yes, zero), you would have scored 20 percentile in quants. In CAT 2008, of the approximately 2.75 lakh students who appeared for the exam, 55,000 students did not even make it to 20 percentile in the quants section, ie, they were not even able to ensure a positive score.

MBA aspirants are slowly getting accustomed to the practicality of the Common Admission Test (CAT) going online this year. Many who had registered online for the 2009 edition of the exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) were agitated last week after they could not call back the form when a mistake crept in and were asked to buy another form by shelling out Rs 1,400.

Following a TOI report last week pointing out the glitches in the online system, authorities are now adding features to the CAT registration and scheduling website to make it more user-friendly. Candidates will be able to make changes or correct errors in the forms from the evening of September18.

With the registration for Common Admission Test (CAT) opening on Wednesday, candidates faced a lot of problems beginning with the CAT voucher and glitches in the registration process on the web.

Students alleged the voucher required for registration was of poor quality and even the slightest pressure was damaging it. “Even if we scratch gently, the code isn’t visible rendering it useless which means we have to buy another voucher spending Rs.1,400,” alleged K. Sandhya, an engineering student.

The glitches in the online applications system for Common Admission Test (CAT) are being resolved. Students will now have a chance to edit their forms as many times as they wish to within the window period and then submit.

The date after which forms can be edited will be put up on the CAT website soon. Earlier, applications submitted with simpler mistakes like spelling errors and wrong marks could not be undone.

This was surely not the race for the top slot. Thousands of B-School aspirants who on Wednesday registered themselves on the first day for the coveted Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009, set to go online from this year, avoided taking the initial slots.

The online test gives options to students to choose the date and venue for the entrance exam that grants admissions to the IIMs and other 150 affiliated B-Schools in the country. The registration will be open till October 1 for the test that will be held across 32 centres over 10 days starting November 28. Last year, 2.7 lakh candidates appeared for the test, a number which is likely to shoot up this time.

CAT (Common Admission Test) 2009 notification is out and the test would be conducted first time online between 28th November to 07th December’09. CAT is the prestigious entrance exam for gaining admission in seven IIMs & Few Non-IIMs top B-schools of India.
